NCRI Virtual Showcase Awards and Prizes

Abstract submission for the NCRI Virtual Showcase has now closed. All abstracts are under review, and submitters will be informed of their acceptance in due course. 

There are a range of prestigious awards and prizes on offer at the NCRI Virtual Showcase. When submitting an abstract you’ll be able to select the award you’d like to apply for. Please make sure you check your eligibility before applying.

 

 

National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Awards

These awards will be offered to up to 5 high-quality abstracts submitted for the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

Eligibility: Open to basic, translational and clinical researchers. To be eligible for this award, entrants must be undertaking either clinical or non-clinical research, and preferably be within one year of graduation in doctoral studies (PhD or equivalent). High-quality abstracts submitted by more senior researchers may be considered if the judging panel feels they are worthy of recognition.

Selection of the winner: A judging panel will review the entries and offer this award to up to 5 of to those deemed to have submitted the best abstracts. Winners will be notified before the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

The award: Recognition on the event webpage and social media, award certificate and complimentary registration to the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Future of Research Awards

Up to 5 junior researchers and trainees who are formally involved in an NCRI Group and submit a high-quality abstract for presentation at the NCRI Virtual Showcase can be considered for these awards.

Eligibility: Open to all junior researcher and trainees who are members of an NCRI Group (e.g. NCRI Lung Group, CMPath) at the time of submission.

Selection of the winner: A judging panel will review the entries and award up to 5 of those deemed to have submitted the best abstracts. Winners will be notified before the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

The award: Recognition on the event webpage and social media, award certificate and complimentary registration to the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) Ross Awards

Endowed by Dr WM Ross, a past President of the College, this award is presented to the clinical oncologists in training or recently appointed consultants adjudged to have presented the best poster at a College meeting. The procedure for determining this award was originally set by the Board of Faculty of Clinical Oncology.

The award has been historically given at the NCRI Cancer Conference. One prize is awarded annually for the best poster presentation. For 2020 this will be given to the best e-poster at the NCRI Virtual Showcase.

Eligibility: The first or second-named author must be a clinical oncologist in training or a recently appointed (in first consultant post less than two years) clinical oncologist and a member in good standing of the Royal College of Radiologists. The winner must register and attend the Virtual Showcase to receive their prize.

Selection of the winner: Entrants for the poster award will be required to produce an e-poster for the NCRI Virtual Showcase, a panel of judges from the RCR will then award the prize to the best e-poster.

The prize: In addition to recognition on the event webpage, social media and an award certificate, the winner of the award will be presented with a £250 cheque.
