Programme session type(s): Schools Event
Date and time: Tue 06-Nov-2018, 09:00-15:30
Room: Seminar Suite
The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation invites sixth form students to take part in this special schools event.
We will be offering an interactive filming activity with pupils being set the challenge of creating a video to pitch a research question to potential funders.
Students will hear from junior researchers spanning different areas of cancer research before splitting off into groups to discuss a specific topic with a researcher. They’ll then have the opportunity to work with a film crew to learn about the filming equipment, shoot their research pitch, edit and finally screen their film.
The event will be a particular interest for students who are considering a career in science and/or medicine, and will allow them to gain in depth knowledge of a particular aspect of cancer research as well as learning film making skills.
