Discovering better ways to diagnose and treat rarer forms of cancer is a major challenge because it is difficult to find enough patients to undertake meaningful research. Many patients are very willing to take part but don’t have a way to make their feelings known. RareCan enables patients with rarer forms of cancer who want to take part in research to register their interest on-line. In this educational meeting we will introduce the patient and researchers perspective and demonstrate the RareCan on-line system for registration. This session will be of interest to patients and researchers who are keen to team up to improve the outlook of anyone with a rarer form of cancer. The session has been generously supported by the MRC/EPSRC-funded Newcastle Molecular Pathology Node.
