NCRI Cancer Conference submissions review process

The NCRI Cancer Conference Scientific Committee encourages individuals and organisations to submit ideas and suggestions for sessions to be run at the NCRI Cancer Conference. Each Conference focuses on a number of key areas or themes which are discussed in various sessions. There are four sub-committees who review proposals in specific areas of research. It is expected that some sessions will be cross-cutting and will be reviewed by more than one sub-committee when relevant.

How to submit an idea

In order to submit a session, applicants must fill in the online form.

Submissions received will be reviewed twice a year during a Scientific Committee meeting as follows:

  • January meeting for either current year or following year’s conference depending on suitability and sessions’ availability
  • October meeting for following year’s Conference

The reviewers will see the names of the presenters, participants and organisers. Proposals are judged based on overall quality, likely interest to the Conference audiences, relevance and compatibility to the overall Conference themes, innovation and contribution. Proposals should aim to be cross-cutting and multidisciplinary whenever possible. Please note that sessions showcasing an organisation’s products, services or research are classed as sponsored sessions and will not be included in the main programme. Please contact the NCRI Conference and Events team for more info on how to organise a sponsored session.

Once a proposal has been submitted, the NCRI Conference and Events Team will contact the applicants to let them know when the proposal will be reviewed and expected timescale for feedback. Following the meeting, feedback will be sent to applicants and if relevant, next steps will be agreed.
