UKONS: The nurses’ role in talking about trials

This session will focus on strategies health professionals use to engage in conversation with patients about clinical trial participation. The session will focus on the role of the nurse within the multi-disciplinary team in supporting the recruitment of eligible patients to clinical trials, and improving patients’ experience of clinical trial participation. Speakers will share research findings about forming trusting patient-professional relationships to discuss clinical trial participation, share recommendations from an RCNi and Cancer Research UK Roundtable event to streamline collaborative working between clinical nurse specialists and clinical research nurses, and report ‘always events’ identified by cancer clinical trial participants.
