A beginner’s guide to cancer therapies: What are they and how do they work?

Host: Martin Christlieb, University of Oxford

17:30-18:30

Room: Room 3A

We have many weapons in our fight against cancer; some old and some new. The three classic therapies of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy have been joined by precision medicines and immunotherapy. What are they and how do they work?

This session will be aimed at consumers and no previous knowledge will be assumed. We will spend time discussing how cancer cells work and what the various therapies are trying to accomplish. The session will allow for discussion and questions and should equip attendees to better understand some of the talks which follow on Monday.
