Highlights of the day – Sunday 2 November

Welcome to Liverpool.

Today marks the opening of the 10th NCRI Cancer Conference. With almost 2,000 colleagues attending from close to 50 countries, this year’s event is also guaranteed to be a fantastic platform to form new collaborations. And with more research submitted than ever before, this milestone Conference promises to be one of the most thrilling yet.

Have you downloaded the Conference app? It is the quickest way to view the programme, search abstracts, make your own schedule, ask questions to plenary speakers, makenotes and network.

Today’s highlights include plenary sessions from Lewis Cantley, David Spiegelhalter and Louis Staudt. Check out their biographies.

Make sure you attend the opening reception in the exhibition hall from 18.00 to network and hear about the latest initiatives, services and products from over 60 organisations. Featured products and prize winning science will be presented in the new Spotlight Theatre; a light dinner and drinks will be served.

And don’t forget to check out the retrospective exhibition on the ground floor. It provides a snapshot of achievements over the last 10 years of the NCRI Cancer Conference. And an opportunity for you to share your views. You can also view it online.

Several press representatives have confirmed attendance – see the news section for the latest press releases about the science being presented. Cancer Research UK is blogging live from the Conference. Read more here.

And don’t forget to share your wow moments on twitter, using #NCRI2014 and enter our competition for the best tweet.
